Pilot terms of use

Authorised pilot use

You may use Evidence Locker only with an account issued or invited for a participating workspace and only for matters you are authorised to access. You must provide accurate account information, protect sign-in credentials and promptly report suspected unauthorised access.

Your authority and instructions

You must have the right to upload material, connect an account, choose collection terms, assign access or disclose a record. Do not collect another person’s account without their informed permission. Connecting Google or Dropbox authorises read-only search and copying only after the in-product confirmation; it does not authorise source modification.

Evidence and legal decisions

Evidence Locker is a technical preservation and controlled-disclosure tool, not legal advice. Counsel remains responsible for relevance, privilege, discovery, retention, disclosure and legal-hold decisions. Users should not treat the pilot as their only copy of irreplaceable information.

Preservation, access, review and disclosure actions can create permanent custody entries. Withdrawing a client-wide connector removes future source access from every matter in that client workspace but does not automatically erase evidence already preserved. Counsel—not a client or connector owner—controls review classification and external disclosure.

Acceptable use

Do not use the service unlawfully; exceed your authority; attempt to access another matter; upload malware; evade limits; interfere with security or availability; misrepresent a custody result; or use automated access outside the provided interfaces and authorised fleet-ingest path.

Pilot availability

The pilot may change, pause or end while reliability, provider verification and commercial controls are completed. Provider search is not a forensic export or a guarantee of completeness: Google Shared Drives need a separate process, and Dropbox collection is limited to active indexed personal-account candidates with a complete approved term in the displayed filename/path. Dropbox content-only matches and Trash/deleted items are excluded, and indexing, duplicate and result limits may omit other matches. We aim to preserve integrity and recoverability, but do not promise uninterrupted availability. Material changes to these terms will be dated on this page and, where material to an active pilot, communicated through the workspace contact.

Suspension and ending access

Access may be suspended to protect users, evidence, providers or the service, or when authorisation ends. Ending an account does not require destruction of material that the controlling firm must retain for an evidentiary or legal purpose. Requests are handled under the privacy policy and deletion process.
